rant.blackapache.net about "Down Under 2"

I hate ISPs in Australia. Mostly we can thank Telstra for being total pricks and strangling the market. The amount you pay for a shit service here is just insane.

Having said that, things are getting better. They are still far from good though.

Transit lanes are monitored via Camera. The tech they used to figure out how many people are in the car is actually pretty amazing ;)

That link doesn't work, but no I wasn't thinking of the lamb ad. There's a different lot with Sam Neill. Maybe it's only on in NSW and you haven't seen it. I don't know.

Several different ads in the series.

There's been a bug about support for that particular chipset on madwifi.org for ages. I had it in my watch list!

OK. I've updated to the latest RC of Movable Type. There are a few OpenID related things in the changelog, so lets see whether it fixes the problem or not.

Looks like it's by design in the Movable Type OpenID implementation... It doesn't even try to get the name from the OpenID URL in case it clashes with a user that's registered another way. Very crap... There might be a plugin out there that does it properly though.

I'm afraid that's a negative ;) Does it stay this way for everyone who uses OpenID? It could be my provider... then again have tried this site with two providers and have the same issue.

So it must be M.T.

Keef about "Who's the Daddy?"

OK. Fixed your display name. I first altered your entry in the users table and republished the site. Strangely that didn't work. Then I noticed that it caches the commenter name in the comments table so a quick bit of SQL resulted in a fix!!!

Future comments should be correct since the entry in the user table now says "OJ".

Your OpenID entry in my database looks like this...

Name - rant.blackapache.net
Identity - http://rant.blackapache.net/
Email -
URL - http://rant.blackapache.net/
Status - Trusted

Doesn't look like there's anything I can do about it at this end without manually hacking the database.

Keef about "Childbirth Pseudoscience"

Actually, homeopathic remedies are so diluted that there's a miniscule chance of there being a single molecule of the active ingredient left.

These arnica tablets that Katherine bought are at a 30c strength. This means it's been diluted at a 100:1 ratio thirty times. So the dilution is 1x10^60:1 (i.e. 1 plus sixty zeros:1).

It's like putting a couple of paracetamol into Lake Windemere and expecting a test tube full of the water to cure any pain.
