A pint? That’s very nearly an armful!

I donated blood for the first time in my life last night. A relatively painless process, though I've been a little achy all over since, particularly in my arms and legs. I awoke this morning with backache too, though I think that's unrelated. The donation took place in a local church hall. As I was lying there being drained I noticed a sign on the wall stating:
Soft balls only on Sunday. If you want a hard ball, ask an adult.
The mind boggles. Anyway, I think the National Blood Service slogan "Do Something Amazing" is perhaps a little overstated, but I hope someone benefits from my donation. I shall be returning in four months to do my bit again.

I tried that a few years back when I was living in Sydney - twice. I passed out both times half way through. Weird eh!? Don't know what it was, but for some reason when I try to give blood my body just conks out, so I can't do it any more.

Besides, since I've been to the U.K. within the last 3 years, they won't take blood from me - strange as it sounds, it's got something to do with foot & mouth! WTF?!

Good on ya for doing it mate. I wish I could as I'd like to feel like I'm giving, but for some reason, it just breaks me when I do :(

They wont use your blood once they've done the tests Keith......i'm surprised they managed to find a good vein with all the scarring.

Surprised they managed to get any blood, thought all they would have got would have been red wine!

Hmmm... I detect an undeserved reputation here... ;-)

yeah! I think you have to sleep with slightly more than one person before they refuse it! :)
